Welcome

Little Stampede formed in Bristol in autumn 2005. Combining jumping Ska beats, growling Blues vocals and driving R&B horns, this eight-piece dance band blend a range of musical styles to serve up their own unique brand of Ska-Blues.

Dark nights and long days spent rehearsing in a shoe factory in deepest St. Paul's have led to a continuing string of gigs around the South West and a growing fan base.

In early 2006 Little Stampede set out, playing street parties and birthday bashes in and around Bristol. Three gigs at Bristol's Louisiana each saw large crowds dancing the night away as the band headlined, and calls from the promoter to return. A packed night in the much larger Space in Stroud saw another frenzied dance-off and an invite to play the Rootstock reggae festival in Belgium.

After road-tripping to a fantastic outdoor gig in front of a crowd of four hundred last summer, the band set about their first studio recording. When not in the studio, they brightened up the winter months with a sell-out weekend night at Halo with support from roots DJs Shanti Sound. Most recently, a headline gig at The Croft and a heaving Saturday night at Mr. Wolf's have brought offers of more and higher-profile gigs across the South West.

Front man Jonathan Alderson was raised on a diet of early Blues and has been unable to escape it's lure ever since. After many years Classical training, he discovered his trademark throaty growl fronting a Nottingham jazz band and has never looked back.

Drummer Andy Todman played in indie rock outfits in Bristol and Reading for several years before teaming up with old mate Jonathan to form Little Stampede. Bass player Paul Grimshaw and guitarist and hip-hop DJ Giles Fox were quickly brought into the mix. Then, with the addition of jazz saxophonists Dan Stone and Lara-Marie Insull, the band began to develop it's distinctive sound. To counter Jonathans timber-saw voice, the dulcet tones of drum-and-bass vocalist Lindsay Berresford were added and in 2007 the Little Stampede horn section was further expanded with the addition of Sue Dawson on trombone.

2007 has already seen the release of the whopping ten-track EP Dancing Feet. The album comprises of six brand new tracks recorded at Bristol's Basement Sounds Studio and four digitally remastered early recordings. After a successful first music video for the track Headlong (which saw drummer Toddy getting chucked out of a cemetery for being dressed as a zombie') the band are currently embarking on a second video for new track Bad Bad Feeling.
